Information You Send
When a search box asks for a name, phone number, or address, the information goes to the third-party service that operates that result flow. The site's own pages do not keep a copy of those queries. If you send a message, the contact mailbox receives the details you choose to include and uses them to answer.
Routine Technical Logs
Hosting infrastructure may record an IP address, browser type, requested pages, and timestamps. These ordinary logs help maintain the service and understand traffic in aggregate. Basic analytics or advertising measurement may use cookies or similar tools when those services are enabled.
How the Information Is Used
The purposes are service operation, troubleshooting, traffic measurement, and page improvement. We do not sell visitor lists or build individual user profiles from these limited signals.
External Portals and Links
Pages link to Town of Groton, City of Groton, Connecticut, court, library, archive, USPS, and third-party search resources. Each outside service controls the data submitted to it under its own notice and terms. Sponsored result boxes are supplied by another provider and are subject to that provider's practices.
Who May Receive It
Hosting and technical vendors may process server logs to keep the service running. Analytics or advertising partners may receive the automatic information described above when those tools are active. Disclosure can also occur when valid legal process requires it.
Security and Retention
The service uses an encrypted connection, and technical logs are retained only for the operational needs described above. There are no resident accounts, passwords, or user profiles stored on the site for an intruder to access.
Visitors Under 18
The reference is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. If a minor has sent information, contact us so it can be reviewed and deleted where appropriate.
Your Choices and Rights
Where it applies, the Connecticut Data Privacy Act, effective July 1, 2023, provides rights such as access, correction, deletion, and opt-out choices for covered business processing. Because Groton Residents Directory keeps little direct information, a request usually means checking the contact mailbox and available server logs. Use the Contact page to ask. Public records held by Connecticut or Groton offices are outside this site's control; a correction or suppression request must go to the custodian that controls the dataset. Connecticut FOIA, CGS ยงยง 1-200 through 1-243, governs public-record access, not removal from this private reference.
Policy Changes
A revised policy will be posted here with the new text. Continued use after a revision indicates acceptance of the updated terms.
